My research focuses on social movements, civil society, and new media studies. Current projects cover the internet and civil society in China, the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and China's emerging environmental movement. My courses in Fall 2008 are First-Year Seminar: Revolutionary Movements and Contemporary Chinese Culture and Society.

In spring 2009, I will be teaching Critical Approaches to East Asia in the Social Sciences (W4102) and China's Cultural Revolution in History and Memory (W4828).
