ASH 3002y Spring 1999
Field Trip Assignment
For this assignment, you'll choose a historic location (pre-1865) and explore it, then present it to the class (and the world) on your website.
First, choose a site. Draw on the March 1 class notes, on your classmates' recommendations, and on guidebooks and electronic guides to New York.
Then, do some background work. Check on logistics (hours, directions, etc.) and also see what you can learn about the site in advance. Do some reading about your site and the people who lived or worked there, or about the period of its construction, or about other relevant historical and cultural issues.
Go to the site. Explore. Take pictures, if you like, or do some sketching.
Then, present the site to us on your webpage. Tell us what it is, when it was built, what's important about it, and what you learned more generally. Your presentation should include at least one image, whether you include your own photographs or drawings, or offer links to existing sites.
This assignment is due Monday, March 29, 1999.
