Office Hours
Office hours are regularly scheduled times when faculty are available to answer your questions about readings, lectures, problems, labs, and exams. Unless there has been a special announcement, you can expect to find us in our offices during these times. You are encouraged to come often.
Laboratory Associates hold office hours to assist with lab reports every school day (Monday through Friday) from noon to 1:45 PM in room 804 Altschul. Come with specific questions. The instructors are there to help you after you have made a good faith effort on your own! They are not there to check your work, do your calculations, or to write your report.
Prof. Chapman's office hours (802 Altschul):
Tu 2-4, W 4-6, Th 10:30-12:30, F 9-11 + problem solving workshop (804 Alt M 6-8 PM)
Since this is a large class, since many students have the same or similar questions, and since you can learn from someone else's questions, you are welcome to come and join whoever else is present asking chemistry questions. Please don't be shy. If my office is too crowded, we may move to room 804.
It is sometimes possible for me to answer a quick question by e-mail, but my preferred way of working with you answering chemistry questions is face-to-face.
If you need to speak to me privately on a personal matter, just say so. Thursday and Friday office hours are not as busy, so they are best for private conversations.
Dr. Alexander's office hours (813C Altschul; through laboratory, on the left)
Monday through Friday 11 AM to 1 PM
Dr. Alexander will make arrangements to reschedule laboratory work for excused absences (illness, family emergency, or religious observance). Makeup work for religious observances must be arranged before the lab that will be missed.
Mrs. Jebejian's office hours (812C Altschul: through laboratory, on the right)
Tuesday and Friday, 11 AM to 1 PM
Mrs. Jebejian is the person to see if you do not understand the grading of a laboratory report.
Both Dr. Alexander and Mrs. Jebejian can give you help on lab reports.
