Chemistry BC3254y: Literature Reports
Periodically during the semester, you will select an article from the primary scientific literature that is relevant to a topic recently covered in the course, and give a 8 to 10 minute oral report about it to the class. Lists of suggested articles will be available, but you are encouraged to find different articles on your own (SciFinder recommended). These may be recent articles using concepts we have been studying, or related articles of historical interest. The work described may be experimental, theoretical, or both. Please check with me that the article is appropriate. If you choose an article from the list below, tell me your choice: one article per person, first-come first-served. Feel free to come ask questions.
Your report need not be a complete review of the paper. The focus should be some aspect of what the authors have done, how they did it, and how it relates to a topic from class. If the article is not from the list supplied, save a copy in pdf format so it is available for the class: send it to me by-e-mail, and I will post it, or e-mail it yourself and retrieve it in 805. If you wish to prepare a few Powerpoint slides, that is fine, but is not required.
